Rangers reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup tournament on Saturday. Cyriel Dessers and Danilo were accurate during a 2-1 win over first divisionist Morton and thus prevented a downfall. In three days, the Scots will play the first leg with PSV in the play-off round of the Champions League.

Dessers, who started in the base just like Sam Lammers, seemed to become the schlemiel shortly after the break when he fouled an opponent with a corner kick. After intervention by the VAR, the ball hit the spot. From eleven meters Grant Gillespie then sent goalkeeper Jack Butland into the wrong corner: 0-1.

Rangers finally managed to clear the deficit in the remainder of the cup game. The home team also received a penalty kick thanks to the VAR, after which Dessers remained cool: 1-1. Lammers was then replaced by Danilo, who was crowned match winner: 2-1.

The Gers can still look forward to the first meeting with PSV with a good feeling because of the victory. The team from Eindhoven will meet Rangers next Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Ibrox. A week later, the return in the Philips Stadium is scheduled.
