Johan Derksen will know on Monday evening Inside today to report that Phillip Cocu has an advantage with the management of PSV compared to Peter Bosz. The Eindhoven club is looking for a successor for the recently resigned Ruud van Nistelrooij and according to Derksen Cocu is a serious option for that. The trainer currently working at Vitesse was previously associated with PSV as head coach for several years and won three national titles in that period.

“So at PSV they seem to be a bit tired of young trainers who continue after their careers, after Van Bommel and Van Nistelrooij”, Derksen opens his argument about PSV’s search for a new strong man. “And they seem to choose between Bosz or Cocu. But I had the impression that Cocu was in a slightly better position in Eindhoven. Because the argument is that he has made them champions three times.” Presenter Wilfred Genee points out that Bosz is now also in the picture at Ajax.

“Bosz is now back in the picture at Ajax, I had the idea. And who else should you bring, a German?” Derksen immediately responds to this by cracking critical notes about the appointment of Sven Mislintat as the new technical director. “The German technical director is a danger, because he has completely different networks.” According to René van der Gijp, Ajax should ‘just’ appoint a Dutch trainer.

Cocu not busy with PSV
Cocu himself is not concerned with a possible return to PSV. “Of course I have been aware of the developments at PSV,” said the Vitesse coach in the run-up to Sunday’s game with Feyenoord. “But a comeback is absolutely not an item now. I think PSV is not yet busy appointing the new trainer. There is a hugely important match on the agenda with AZ. All eyes are on that. PSV is not an issue for me. I’m here, at Vitesse.”
