Dele Alli has been told by Besiktas coach Senol Günes that he will be in the stands for the rest of the season, reports Takvim. Due to the disappointing sporting performance of the 26-year-old Englishman, the coach of the number three in the Süper Lig will no longer appeal to him this season.

Alli closed the door at Tottenham Hotspur more than a year ago after seven seasons. The midfielder signed a contract with Everton until mid-2024, but left after thirteen games. Besiktas offered a solution last summer with a one-season rental deal. An option to purchase was also included in the lease.

The 37-time England international started with seven starting places in the first nine league games (he had to miss the other two games due to an upper leg injury (promising for his Turkish adventure). He then sat on the bench for four league games in a row, to play in to come on regularly in the other matches. In Besiktas’ last two league matches, against Ankaragücü (2-1 win) and Basaksehir (0-2 win), Alli was already missing from the match selection. So now he would have been told that he will be in the stands for the rest of the season.

Alli was known as a top talent in England for many years. The midfielder broke through at MK Dons and forced a top transfer to Tottenham after two seasons. Employment in North London started off well for Alli under Mauricio Pochettino, but after the Argentine’s departure he fell out of favor with José Mourinho the Spurs. The Englishman was then unable to convince Antonio Conte and Frank Lampard either, so he fled to Turkey. In principle, Alli will return to Everton in the summer.
