The Dutch women’s team easily won against Finland on the Tournoi de France on Saturday. In the Stade Océane in Le Havre, the team of national coach Mark Parsons won 0-3. As a result, the Netherlands has collected four points from the first two matches in the friendly tournament. The first game against Brazil ended in 1-1 on Wednesday.

Parsons took the opportunity to see other names in action than his usual base clients. Players such as Sari van Veenendaal, Lieke Martens, Aniek Nouwen and Jackie Groenen were on the bench, while Vivianne Miedema, Stefanie van der Gragt and Merel van Dongen were not part of the selection at all. Goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar and midfielder Kayleigh van Dooren made their international debut with a starting spot. As a substitute, Chasity Grant made his debut in the second half.

The the Dutch took the lead in minute 23 against the number 28 of the FIFA world ranking. Samantha van Diemen sent a nice through ball towards Romée Leuchter, whose low cross was actually too sharp. Keeper Paula Myllyoja was able to pick up the ball, but suddenly tapped it in front of Caitlin Dijkstra: 0-1. Nine minutes before the break it was 0-2: after a hard, measured cross from Van Diemen, Katja Snoeijs headed diagonally. The Girondins Bordeaux striker also made it 0-3 shortly after the break. Snoeijs received the ball from Kayleigh van Dooren, scored from close range and made her ninth goal in twelve international matches.

The Tournoi de France should serve as the final preparation for national coach Parsons for the decisive phase of the World Cup qualifiers and the European Championship, which will be completed in England this summer. The Tournoi de France has been organized annually by the French Football Federation since 2020. In addition to the French national team, three host countries are invited. The Netherlands still plays against France in the friendly tournament.
