Rai Vloet is the person who caused a fatal traffic accident on the A4 with alcohol last week, reasoning The Telegraph Thursday night. In the night from Saturday to Sunday, a car with Vloet and a 27-year-old friend of the Heracles Almelo midfielder collided with a car containing a man, a woman and two children. A four-year-old boy from Zoetermeer was seriously injured and later died in hospital.

For the time being, it was unclear who the driver of the car in which Vloet was sitting, but according to The Telegraph everything indicates that the Heracles midfielder drove himself. According to the newspaper, it is confirmed ‘by several people’ that the friend who accompanied Vloet was only a co-driver in the car and that that person had not drunk alcohol. The foregoing therefore leads to the conclusion that Vloet is the person who drove the car with a gulp.

The Telegraph spoke with acquaintances from the environment of the alleged co-driver, who is a good friend of Vloet and plays as an amateur football player for third divisionist UNA. “He was back at the club on Tuesday. Just passed the training. In it he again addressed the group of players and told what happened,” said the anonymous source.

The Noord-Holland police confirms to The Telegraph to know who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident. “That’s right. One of them confessed that,” said a spokesperson, who adds that a breath analysis was taken from one of the two occupants, which shows that this person had drunk alcohol. The police cannot confirm that Vloet was the driver, which has to do with privacy legislation.

Vloet and the second occupant were arrested after the fatal accident, but were released soon after. The 26-year-old Heracles midfielder was injured in the accident and was allowed to undergo medical treatment before returning for questioning. Both remain suspects in the case.
