Dani Parejo has lashed out at Julian Nagelsmann after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with Villarreal. El Submarino Amarillo played a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening, which was enough after the 1-0 victory in the first leg. Parejo tells in conversation with Movistar+ Before the diptych, Nagelsmann was disrespectful to Villarreal in his eyes.

“After Villarreal came out, the Bayern coach, who I don’t know, was disrespectful to Villarreal and football in general. He said he wanted to decide the diptych in the first game. That showed little conversation and I think something like a boomerang is coming back,” Parejo admits. “Bayern was the favourite, but you still have to show it on the pitch. We talked about it in the dressing room and in two games we were bigger than Bayern.”

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann calls the first leg ‘the key’ afterwards. “We lost the diptych there, we didn’t play well,” says Nagelsmann. “We were now playing very well, tactically and in terms of intensity, this was the best game in recent months. Maybe we should have scored more, but overall it was a good game. Unfortunately we gave away some space in the final phase. This is very sour.”

“We have to enjoy this. Now that we’re in the semi-finals, I don’t want to hear about how likeable we are and that we’re from a small town like Asterix and Obelix. We are really working on a project,” Villarreal coach Unai Emery said. “When we were 1-0 behind, it was difficult for a while. Because when Bayern score, they usually make two or three. They’ve shown that so many times. It gives a lot of confidence when you beat favourites, like we did against Juventus in the last round. In the semi-final against Liverpool or Benfica we will again do the maximum to have the best possible chance.”
