Bayern Munich has won again in the Bundesliga for the first time since November 12. With a dazzling first twenty minutes, Julian Nagelsmann’s team laid the foundation for a businesslike 2-4 victory over VfL Wolfsburg. As a result, Bayern takes the lead again from Union Berlin. Daley Blind came on after 78 minutes and thus made his league debut the record master.

Bayern had not won the entire calendar year in a Bundesliga context and Nagelsmann wanted to put an end to that with Matthijs de Ligt in the base. Blind – who still hadn’t made his league debut – once again had to settle for a place on the bench, while Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui were missing due to injuries. Wolfsburg, with former Bayern final responsible Niko Kovac at the helm, started with Micky van de Ven at the kick-off.

Bayern’s midweek cup victory over FSV Mainz 05 (0-4) seemed the record master confidence: within twenty minutes it was already 0-3. First Kingsley Coman saw his cross fly in with luck, then he completed his second in a beautiful way and saw Thomas Müller take care of the third Bayern goal with a header. Wolfsburg, however, did not give in and immediately signed for the tying goal.

Jakub Kaminski set up a lightning-fast one-two with Paulo Otávio and moved past Yann Sommer: 1-3. Wolfsburg kept the tension in the game with that. Joshua Kimmich contributed to that just after the break, as he picked up his second yellow card of the evening and left his side with ten men. Nevertheless, Bayern managed to expand the difference even further. Jamal Musiala walked through the Wolfsburg defense as if it were not there and brilliantly signed for the 1-4. Five minutes later, Blind came on as a replacement for João Cancelo. The Dutchman saw Matthias Svanberg make 2-4, but Bayern did not relinquish the victory.
