Jack de Gier is eager to get back to work as a trainer. The former coach of FC Den Bosch was fired after the shocking 13-0 defeat at PEC Zwolle last season, but says he is ready for a new job. “This spring I really didn’t want to think about working for another club. It took me a long time to give it a place,” says De Gier in conversation with the Algemeen Dagblad.

De Gier, who was active as a player and as a trainer at Den Bosch, does not see himself returning to the club from the Kitchen Champion Division for the time being. “Not as long as the current technical management is there and the Americans from the Pacific Media Group are in charge. This is no longer my FC Den Bosch, with Paul Conway, a shareholder who has no knowledge of football, but who puts up figures that he himself can influence.”

After De Gier was told that his contract was not extended at Den Bosch, things also went downhill in terms of sport. “Then you see what you see at every football club. If there is unrest at the top, it has repercussions on the field. Now just look at Ajax. The news from above immediately seeped through to the playing group and then things started to rumble. We lost to Telstar and Helmond Sport before the winter break and then it became an unpleasant end to the calendar year.”

Yet De Gier has now been able to give it a place. “It was quite a tough period. But now that the holidays are over and the new season is starting again, I am starting to get the itch and I am ready for it. I would like to get started. You can rest assured that I recently joined Willem II and NAC Breda, I applied. But they made different choices there. Yes, that is annoying, isn’t it.” Willem II joined forces with the Belgian Peter Maes, NAC appointed Jean-Paul van Gastel.

De Gier is afraid that he has a stamp. “I have the feeling that some policymakers are afraid to appoint me. After all, I lost my last match 13-0. But then again, I have worked at a total of four clubs as a trainer. NEC may have come too early for me “, but I did well at Almere City and Go Ahead Eagles. And initially also at FC Den Bosch, just look at the budget with which we finished eleventh in 2021/22.”
