Ferry de Regt steps down as team manager of VVV-Venlo. That can be read on the club channels of the Limburgers. That news is in itself not so special, were it not for the fact that De Regt had only started the job 24 days ago. Technical manager Willem Janssen now has to look for a new team manager.

De Regt, who retired from professional football after last season and played more than a hundred games for VVV during his active career, started 24 days ago as team manager of the Venlonaren. Less than four weeks later, he called it quits. “I cannot blame VVV, because I am well informed about what this function entails,” he says on the club site. “But unfortunately my expectations turned out to be different from reality. A lot of time goes into this work and that had too much impact on my family situation.”

This means that Janssen, who also recently stopped as a football player and started his new job in De Koel, is already looking for a successor for De Regt. He therefore regrets the decision of the former defender. “Ferry, with his football experience and personality, was ideally suited for this position in our view. I think he could have been a very good team manager, so it is very unfortunate that Ferry has come to this conclusion.”

De Regt will now focus on a social career, while Janssen must ensure that there is a new team manager and a selection with which VVV can return to the Eredivisie. The former defender already brought in an acquaintance of FC Utrecht as head coach with Rick Kruys and also signed four new players with Robert Klaasen, Ennio van der Gouw, Nick Venema and Sem Dirks.
