Chelsea has strengthened itself with Andrey Santos, the Londoners report through the official channels. The Brazilian comes over from Vasco da Gama for about 12.5 million euros. The eighteen-year-old midfielder was important to his club last season, scoring eight times in 33 games. With that he helped Vasco da Gama to promotion to the Série A, the highest Brazilian level. The Londoners also want to strengthen themselves with Marcos Thuram, according to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano.

“This is a very big opportunity for me,” said Santos on Chelsea’s website. “This is a big club playing in a big league, the Premier League. I can’t wait. The players here are so good and I’m really happy to be here.” Santos made an excellent impression in the Under 20 team of his now former employer box to boxmidfielder and made his debut in the first team on the last match day of the 2021 season. During the past season, the 1.80 meter tall youngster scored eight goals, helping Vasco da Gama to third place and thus promotion to the highest level.

Santos is not the only addition to that the Blues trying to put on this winter. Manager Graham Potter’s side are particularly interested in the services of Enzo Fernández, who, like Santos, is a central midfielder. The 21-year-old star of Benfica made a particularly good impression at the last World Cup in Qatar, where he became world champion with Argentina. It earned him the title of best young player of the World Cup. Benfica, which has had an excellent season and was undefeated until recently, does not want to let his pupil go. Only if the transfer clause of 120 million is activated is a departure of el Gordo possibly possible. However, Chelsea seems to want to pay less, which led to irritation with success coach Roger Schmidt. The German called Chelsea’s intentions, among other things, “disrespectful”.

Marcos Thuram
Romano reports that Chelsea also wants to strengthen themselves with Thuram. According to the Italian journalist, talks between the Londoners and Borussia Mönchengladbach have now opened. The French international will run out of contract in Germany in June and is therefore an attractive, cheap option for many top clubs, writes Romano. Santi Aouna van Foot Mercato previously reported that Thuram takes his time to determine his future plans. The center forward joined Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2019 and has so far scored 119 hits, 41 goals and 26 assists for the fohlen.
