Chelsea to strengthen with Carney Chukwuemeka. The eighteen-year-old midfielder is taken over from Aston Villa, which, according to Sky Sports receives just under 24 million euros. Chukwuemeka is known as a great talent and last summer won the European Under 19 Championship with England. He made his debut in May 2021 at the age of seventeen in the main force of VIlla.
Chukwuemeka’s departure from Birmingham comes as no surprise, as his contract was due to expire next summer. The Englishman, who has been playing at Villa since he was 12, had no intention of extending his contract. Incidentally, the youngster still has to reach a personal agreement with
Villa coach Steven Gerrard confirmed Chukwuemeka would be part of his roster earlier this season, but ultimately declined to take him on a summer tour of Australia. According to Kaveh Solhekol, Sky Sports News reporter, Chelsea has done good business. “He is described as one of the best young players in England. Chelsea are not only signing big names like Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly, but are also buying great English talents like Chukwuemeka and Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.”
Chukwuemeka was admitted to Villa’s youth academy in March 2016. Some five years later, Dean Smith made his debut in the 2-1 away game at Tottenham Hotspur. After that, Chukwuemeka made fifteen more appearances for the club, in which he failed to score but did provide an assist. Although Chukwuemeka is a youth international for England, he can also play for Nigeria and Austria in the future. Both his parents are Nigerian and he was born in Eisenstadt, Austria. Chukwuemeka himself seems to be focusing on an international career for now at The Three Lions.
