Edinson Cavani does not feel happy in England and wants to leave Manchester United after a year, his father Luis claims in the program Superfutbol on the Argentinian television channel TyC Sports. According to Cavani senior, the 34-year-old striker has set his sights on a move to Boca Juniors, with whom talks have already been held.

Cavani has been with Manchester United since October, having been on a free transfer since leaving Paris Saint-Germain. The 118-time Uruguayan international cannot always count on a starting place in the team of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: for the time being he played 25 games, of which 13 as a starting player and in which he scored 7 goals. Cavani has signed a one-year deal with Manchester United, with an option for another season.

Solskjaer recently indicated that he would soon meet with Cavani to discuss contract extension. “I can only say that Edinson has done very well. I am impressed with him, he has found a place in the group. We will soon be talking about his near future. We need to see what his plans and our plans are. It’s good to have a conversation about that, we always do that ”, said Solskjaer. However, Cavani’s father now appears to be announcing a quick split between Manchester United and the striker.

“I want Edinson to play for a club that is fighting for the important prizes. He has had many conversations with Juan Román Riquelme (the vice president of Boca Juniors, ed.) And would like to play for Boca Juniors, ”Cavani senior tells Argentine television. “He wants to return to South America halfway through this year. My son now plans not to stay with Manchester United. He wants to return. I think he will come back to South America in June. He has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave in June. ”

“There are certain things that annoy us as humans, such as the n * gritosuspension ”, Cavani senior continues. He is referring to the suspension of three games that Cavani was imposed at the end of December. The striker responded with the words ‘gracias, negrito’, which can be translated as ‘thank you little black one’ to a congratulation from a friend on Instagram after his winning goal against Southampton (2-3). Cavani thus violated the rules of the English Football Association (FA), which also imposed a fine of £ 100,000, equivalent to a whopping 110,000 euros, and participation in an information program.

“That influenced him. Sometimes players can no longer find their shape as a result. You can be mentally brought down ”, Cavani’s father concludes. Should his son indeed move to Boca Juniors next summer, he will return to South America after more than fourteen years. Cavani left Uruguayan Danubio behind for Palermo in January 2007 and then ended up at Manchester United via Napoli and PSG.
