Sven Botman is going to leave Lille OSC, so claims Canal + Sunday night. According to the TV channel, Lille has agreed to a bid from an as yet unknown English club for 40 to 45 million euros. His agent Nikkie Bruinenberg speaks opposite Football zone however of ‘fake news’ and denies that his client has been sold.

Canal + initially spoke of a European superpower and then added that it is a club from the Premier League. In January, Botman was cautiously associated with Liverpool. The names of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were also rumored at the time. According to Veronica Inside AC Milan now also has serious interest; Bruinenberg does not want to go into this. Botman has a contract with Lille until mid-2025.

The 21-year-old Botman comes from Ajax’s youth academy, but never played a match for the first team. He played for Young Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division in the 2018/19 season and was parked at sc Heerenveen in the following season. He had a permanent base in Friesland and took steps in his development.

However, many minutes of play with the main force of Ajax did not attract, so Botman was open to a departure. At Lille, which paid eight million euros, he was seen by technical director Luís Campos as a replacement for Gabriel Magalhaes, who was sold to Arsenal. This season he played 25 games for the title contender from the Ligue 1 and the opponent of Ajax in the sixteenth final of the Europa League.
