Marciano Vink has doubts whether Sebastian Szymanski is able to perform a whole season at 10 at Feyenoord, the analyst says in the program football talk on ESPN. The analyst is a fan of Szymanski as a football player, but wonders whether the 23-year-old Pole can deliver consistently.

Been would always choose Szymanski in his most ideal line-up at Feyenoord. “I would put Szymanski on 10, Dilrosun to the side and then Wålemark on the other flank. Idrissi and Jahanbakhsh have not yet consistently achieved the desired level, there is still too much difference.” Marciano Vink notes that Feyenoord has had a completely different interpretation of the position behind the striker since Guus Til’s departure.

“You have completely different types of players now”, Vink begins his argument. “Of course you had Til, who now also shows that he is not really the best footballer, but who keeps going constantly. Behind that you had Aursnes who could manage that well. Then I understand that you’ve lost in intensity. You now have a lot of creative players with Dilrosun and Szymanski.” Vink still has some doubts about the latter. “I think he is a wonderful footballer, but can he show this for a whole season at Feyenoord?”

Been states that it has been a bit hit and miss at Szymanski so far. “Every game is different. During the first game against Vitesse (2-5 win, ed.) it was okay. He scored a great goal against Go Ahead (3-4 win, red), but in between there were also matches in which you saw too little of him.” Vink concludes that certainty is necessary at Feyenoord. “You want to have a number 10 that you know you can play with him in the next few games.”

On Thursday evening, Feyenoord will most likely kick off against FC Midtjylland without Szymanski. It General Newspaper expect Javairô Dilrosun to be preferred again as number 10. Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Oussama Idrissi remain on the flanks. Lutsharel Geertruida will most likely start in the starting line-up, which will be at the expense of Marcus Pedersen. The kick-off between FC Midtjylland and Feyenoord will be taken at 9 p.m. in the MCH Arena in Herning.
