Bayern Munich will strengthen with Raphinha in January, assures TNT Sports. The Brazilian channel reports that the German record champion will take over the attacker from Leeds United for an amount of around fifty million euros. The former clubs of the Brazilian, Avaí, Vitória Guimarães, Sporting Portugal and Stade Rennes, are also making a profit from the transfer, the Brazilian medium reports.

Bayern have been looking for a replacement for Kingsley Coman for some time now. The Frenchman has still not extended his contract in Bavaria and seems to be heading for a break. Bayern would love to continue with the 36-time French international, but the negotiations have come to nothing for the time being. The main stumbling block seems to be Coman’s financial demands: he reportedly demands a salary of around twenty million euros per year, while he is now credited eight million euros per annum.

Due to the difficult negotiations, Bayern is looking further and would have turned an eye on Raphinha. The Brazilian is having a strong season at Leeds United and has appeared 16 times in the Premier League this season. He scored eight goals in those 16 games. He is also starting to play a more prominent role in the Brazilian national team. In the past two World Cup qualifiers against Colombia (1-0) and Argentina (0-0), he was in the starting lineup. He played over an hour in both matches. Raphinha has so far played five international matches on behalf of Brazil.

Should it actually come to a transfer, Raphinha will become the third most expensive purchase ever in Bayern’s history. Lucas Hernandez (transferred from Atlético Madrid for 80 million euros) and Leroy Sané (transferred 60 million euros from Manchester City) top the list. It would also be a record for Leeds United. The most expensive outgoing transfer from the Premier League club dates back to the 2002/03 season, when Rio Ferdinand made the switch to Manchester United for the equivalent of €46 million.
