Karim Benzema has lashed out at Didier Deschamps via Instagram. The 35-year-old striker of Real Madrid responds via his own platform to an interview that the France national coach has given to Le Parisien. According to Deschamps, Benzema could have taken action during the last World Cup in Qatar, but the right leg himself states that this is not true. “What guts,” writes the world striker, who adds an emoji of a clown.

Benzema left the training camp of les Bleus before the World Cup with a thigh injury, after which he did not return to Deschamps’ squad. The latter sent the striker according to, among other things L’Equipe home, while he himself would have liked to stay for the final phase of the prestigious tournament. Deschamps has kept quiet about the situation in recent months, but decided to talk to Le Parisien yet to clarify.

The Instagram Story that Benzema posted on Friday night.

“We sat together for twenty minutes after the injury news, after which I left him alone,” said Deschamps, who says that Benzema left suddenly. “I told him that there was no rush and that he could organize his return to the team with the team manager. When I woke up the next day, I understood that he had left.” The 54-year-old national coach himself said that Benzema can confirm that story, but a few hours later that turned out not to be the case.

Benzema response
Via two posts in his Instagram Story (messages that are visible 24 hours after posting) Benzema responds to Deschamps’ interview. “What guts,” Benzema writes under a photo of himself with the national coach. In addition, the striker uses an emoji to show Deschamps that he finds a clown. In the second Story, Benzema lets an unknown man speak. “Liar, what a liar”, can be heard. Benzema adds his own saying below the message. “Saint Didier. Have a nice evening…” In the past, Benzema was not called up by Deschamps for years due to his involvement in the sex tape affair of colleague Mathieu Valbuena. Towards the 2021 European Championship, a reconciliation with the French choice lord followed, but it turns out to be short-lived.
