Jamal Musiala has signed his first professional contract with Bayern Munich. The attacking midfielder signed a long-term contract until the summer of 2026 on Friday, Bayern announced via official channels. Musiala, turned eighteen last week, will experience his breakthrough this season der Rekordmeister. The youngster was reportedly approached by a Premier League superpower, but he is clearly opting for a future in Bavaria.

Musiala has already played 26 official matches for the first team this year, 19 of which as a substitute. In the last two official matches, against Lazio in the Champions League (1-4 win) and against 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga (5-1 win), he started as a basic player. In the duel with Lazio, he also scored his first goal in the Champions League. He was 17 years and 363 days at the time, making him the youngest Englishman ever to score in the billion dollar ball. After Bojan Krkic (17 years and 217 days), he is the youngest ever goal scorer in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

In the summer of 2019, the top talent made the switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Bayern Munich. He mainly played for the second team, but became the youngest ever debutant for Bayern in the Bundesliga on 20 June 2020, when he was allowed to substitute against SC Freiburg. It was his only appearance in the 2019/20 season. In the current year, the counter stands at three goals in seventeen appearances in the competition. If it were up to Musiala, there are still many goals to be scored. “I am very happy to sign my first professional contract with Bayern,” he says on the club site.

“I have a very good feeling about the club and the team. I play football with the best players in the world and I can learn from them every day on the training field. Hansi Flick (trainer, ed.), Hasan Salihamidzic (sports director) and Marco Neppe (chief scout) have always believed in me, just like everyone else at the club. I got the chance at Bayern very early. I want to pay back that trust with good performances, by continuing to develop myself and by winning many more awards. My goal is to become an important player for the club “, continues Musiala, who last month chose an international career with Germany, despite being allowed to play for England.

Salihamidzic is happy with the signature of the talented attacking midfielder. He says that Bayern had to do a lot to convince both Musiala and his family of the transfer to Germany in the summer of 2019. “I am very pleased that we are reaping the benefits of our work to discover, develop and develop talents. “Our scout Marco Neppe has played an important role in this. We now have to make sure that we continue to challenge Jamal and take care of him. I am sure that we will have a lot of fun with him.”
