Latest update:

Eric Dier is the latest addition to Bayern Munich, according to Florian Plettenberg, journalist for the German branch Sky Sports to report on Thursday morning. The Englishman will undergo the medical examination today and will be presented later.

Before Dier ended up sidetracked at Tottenham Hotspur, he has a contract with Bayern until mid-2025. According to Plettenberg, the transfer fee is around five million euros. The animal was held in London until mid-2024. Trainer Thomas Tuchel has already spoken to the 49-time England international and has already announced that he sees him as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.

Bayern had several defenders in mind in January, but has now made the decision. In any case, Tuchel has 'analyzed' Dier in recent days with the club management of the German top club and that analysis appears to have been well received.

The 49-time England international is physically strong and can play as a central defender, right back and defensive midfielder. That really appeals to the club.

With Dier's transfer, no fewer than nine years at Tottenham come to an end. The English took over the right foot in the summer of 2014 for five million euros from Sporting Portugal, where he received his youth training. Dier was an important player in Mauricio Pochettino's team for years and he could usually count on many minutes under José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte.

However, under Ange Postecoglou, the defender and midfielder hardly got any playing time. This season the counter has only reached 198 playing minutes, spread over 4 Premier League matches. Dier only started once in the competition.

Sports Image reported before the turn of the year that Tuchel needs an extra defender because he wants to experiment with a three-man defense. The Bayern coach now has Dier, Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae at his disposal.

The news also means that Raphaël Varane, Ronald Araújo, Jonathan Tah and Jorrel Hato will most likely not move to southern Germany. Trevoh Chalobah can also put a switch to the German champions out of his mind.
