Clubs interested in Julian Nagelsmann’s services should first negotiate with Bayern Munich. The German record champion is demanding a hefty transfer fee for the coach who was fired at the end of March, reports Christian Falk on behalf of BILD. Bayern hopes to reduce the costs associated with the dismissal of Nagelsmann somewhat. The 35-year-old coach was acquired for a lot of money two years ago and also owes part of his salary.

Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic expect to receive many more millions for the recently fired Nagelsmann, if he is still appointed somewhere this year. The long contract term – Nagelsmann still had a contract until mid-2026 – means that Bayern still owes a lot of money. The club hopes to compensate the costs to some extent by means of this ‘pressure tool’, which will put Nagelsmann in a less good position in the market. Formally, the thirty-year-old’s contract has not yet been terminated at Bayern.

Kahn suspects that the subject will not become topical in the near future, however. “I can’t imagine him coaching anywhere else this year. It should all settle down now. But as I got to know him, he loves football and will return soon,” said the CEO at Sky90. Nagelsmann has been named at Chelsea, where he must succeed Graham Potter. The Blues first finish the season with interim manager Frank Lampard.

Nagelsmann is reportedly owed about thirty million euros by Bayern. The German therefore still had a long-term contract and is entitled to part of his salary. Nagelsmann raised about eight to nine million euros annually. The high salary costs come on top of the transfer fee that Bayern paid for the innovative teacher in 2021. The club paid RB Leipzig more than twenty million euros, making him the most expensive trainer ever in football history.
