A return of Julian Nagelsmann as coach of Bayern Munich is getting closer. Florian Plettenberg reports this Sky Deutschland Monday evening. Bayern will say goodbye to Thomas Tuchel after this season and is therefore looking for a successor.

Plettenberg reports the news about Nagelsmann on X. “His return to Bayern is becoming more and more concrete. There are advanced discussions, talking about a contract for three or four years,” he begins his post.

“Nagelsmann can imagine a return to Bayern, but has not yet given a definitive green light,” Plettenberg continues. “There is no final agreement yet.”

Nagelsmann is currently still the national coach of Germany, with which he will be active at the European Championships next summer. His contract runs until after the European Championship, so it is quite possible that he will leave for Bayern afterwards.

The 36-year-old trainer was also trainer from July 2021 to March 2023 der Rekordmeister. At the end of last year, information from Sports Image why he was fired more than a year ago: because of a speech at half-time of the match between Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen (2-1 defeat).

At halftime of that game, Bayern still led 0-1. At halftime, then CEO Oliver Kahn and technical director Hasan Salihamidzic surprisingly entered the dressing room. What they saw there was enough reason for dismissal.

The club's directors saw Nagelsmann give an 'incomprehensible' speech. According to the renowned German medium, the players looked with amazement at the instructions, which they could hardly follow. Kahn and Salihamidzic have now left the club, and a return of Nagelsmann seems imminent.

In the unlikely event that Bayern and Nagelsmann cannot reach an agreement, the club has two other names on the list: Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton & Hove Albion) and Unai Emery (Aston Villa). Another name mentioned, Xabi Alonso, has already indicated that he will remain at his current club Bayer Leverkusen.
