On Wednesday morning it was announced that Thomas Tuchel will leave as coach of Bayern Munich after this season. The German top club must therefore look for a successor, but does not have to report to Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool's coach is determined to take a sabbatical for at least a year after this season.

Xavi Alonso was immediately mentioned by German media as a top candidate to succeed Tuchel. Alonso is having a very strong season with Bayer Leverkusen and it seems der Rekordmeister, where he was under contract as a player between 2014 and 2017, from a first national championship since 2013. The lead of that Workself is currently 8 points.

Another name that was quickly linked to Bayern Munich is Klopp's. The 56-year-old coach will leave as manager of Liverpool after this season. Last month, he indicated at a specially convened press conference that he would not coach another club or country team in the coming year.

Florian Plettenberg, journalist from the German branch of Sky, quickly quashed the rumors about Klopp and Bayern on Wednesday. “The possibility of Klopp becoming Bayern Munich coach next summer is one hundred percent ruled out. He remains committed to taking a one-year sabbatical,” Plettenberg said.

These words were confirmed not much later by Marc Kosicke, Klopp's agent, to the German medium: “His decision to take a one-year break remains unchanged.”

Klopp said in January that he feels the battery is running out. “If you ask me whether I will ever work as a trainer again, I would say 'no' now. But of course I don't know yet what that feels like, because I have never been in this situation before,” said the success trainer. “What I do know for sure is that I will never coach any club other than Liverpool in England. One hundred percent, that's impossible. My love for this club and respect for its people is too great.”

“I will return to work eventually,” Klopp continued. “I know myself and I can't just sit in my seat. I will eventually find something, but I will not coach a club or country for at least a year. That's not possible: I can't do that and I don't want to do that. That's all I can say about it.”
