Bayern Munich has resigned to the transfer-free departure of Corentin Tolisso, report ASH and La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 27-year-old midfielder was brought in as a record purchase by Bayern four years ago, but was unable to meet expectations, partly due to injuries. Tolisso is a sought-after player in the major European competitions due to his approaching transfer-free status.

Bayern transferred 41.5 million euros to Olympique Lyon for Tolisso in 2017, a club record at the time. The Frenchman started well in Germany and made forty official appearances in his first season and then won the World Cup with his country. In September 2018, things went wrong for Tolisso, who at the time tore his cruciate ligament and was out for a long time. Even after his return, the dynamic midfielder ran into various injuries, which meant that he never became a permanent fixture in the successful Bayern team.

Tolisso recently returned from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for almost the entire start of the season. The midfielder has made a brief appearance for Bayern in the past three games, but has the intention to leave the club at the end of the season to get more time to play. According to ASH and La Gazzetta dello Sport Atlético Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Tolisso on a free transfer. Internazionale and Juventus would also be on the fence, but given their financial situation they are at a disadvantage.

Bayern has more problems with expiring contracts, because BILD reported on Wednesday that Kingsley Coman is also likely to leave the club on a free transfer. The 25-year-old French winger has been negotiating with the German superpower for a while about a new contract, but remains committed to a salary requirement of twenty million euros per year. Bayern refuse to pay that, so it is not obvious that both parties will come to an agreement. Coman will run out of his contract in mid-2023.
