Juventus booked a narrow victory at Lecce on Saturday evening. The team from Turin had a hard time with the stiff home team, but via Nicolò Fagioli, who scored his first goal in Serie A, Juventus took the three points home: 0-1. The team of trainer Massimiliano Allegri therefore rises to a provisional sixth place, while Lecce is only two points above the line in seventeenth place.
Juventus had to do without a team of injured players, including Dusan Vlahovic, Leandro Paredes and Bremer. Partly due to the absence of the Brazilian, Federico Gatti was placed centrally in the back, while Leonardo Bonucci was a bench seat. Allegri also had a basic place at home for nineteen-year-old Matias Soulé, who left a good impression in the 4-3 lost Champions League match with Benfica. After the break, Allegri made an offensive change by replacing Weston McKennie for Fagioli. The substitute saw Gatti try with a header from a free kick, which could be saved by Falcone. After more than an hour of play, Allegri brought Kean on the field and that seemed to give Juventus a boost. Milik was dangerous at first with a shot that could be deflected by star Falcone, after which Kean saw his header go just wide. More than five minutes later it was hit for the bianconeri. Samuel Iling found Fagioli in the box, after which he curled the ball nicely into the top right corner: 0-1. Lecce, who had not thought of attacking until then, suddenly had to come forward and came very close two minutes before the end via Morten Hjulmand. The Dane got the ball at his feet after a corner kick that had been deflected and looked for the far corner, but found the post.
