Liverpool has won its first group match in the Europa League. After an early 1-0 deficit when visiting LASK Linz, coach Jürgen Klopp’s team managed to fight back: 1-3. Ryan Gravenberch was important in the 1-2 with an assist to Luis Díaz; Liverpool’s first and third goals were scored by Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah respectively. Toulouse and Union St. Gilles kept each other in balance in the other match in Group E: 1-1.

With Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk in the starting line-up, Liverpool surprisingly fell behind in the fourteenth minute. From a corner kick, Sascha Horvath delivered the ball to Florian Flecker on the edge of the sixteen, who took it and scored effectively: 0-1. In the second half the Reds keep things in order. The equalizer was scored by Darwin Núñez, who scored from a penalty: 1-1. Marco Di Bello awarded the penalty after a foul in the box by Philipp Ziereis.

The second winning goal was scored after more than an hour of play. Gravenberch delivered a tailor-made cross from the right flank to Luis Díaz, who shot in hard from close range: 1-2. Almost immediately after his assist, Gravenberch had to leave the field injured. In the final phase, substitute Mohamed Salah put the 1-3 final score on the scoreboard on a pass from Núñez. Cody Gakpo remained on the bench for ninety minutes.
