Internazionale recorded a simple 2-0 win against Spezia on Wednesday evening. Denzel Dumfries got a chance in the starting line-up for the first time in four games and showed activity, but was not decisive. Lautaro Martínez was with an assist and a goal. With the victory in second place, Inter joins league-leader Napoli, which has one point more with one less game played. Rick Karsdorp also ran into an expensive defeat against Bologna (1-0) with AS Roma. To make matters worse, the right-back picked up a yellow card in injury time, which means that he is banned from Inter next week.

Inter Milan – Spezia 2-0
Dumfries was determined to show himself to Inzaghi and fully joined the attacking Inter. The right back came in from the right after half an hour and shot hard at goal with the left, but aimed straight through the middle. A few minutes later, Dumfries had gone just too far, preventing him from tapping in a low cross from Ivan Perisic. The opening goal came in the 36th minute in the name of Roberto Gagliardini, who controlled Lautaro Martínez after a beautiful ball with the outside foot: 1-0.

Spezia, where Jeroen Zoet has lost his place under the bar since the beginning of October, was hardly involved, but came close to a goal just before half-time via a dangerous header from Kelvin Amian. In the second half, however, it was again one-way traffic towards the visitors’ goal and Joaquín Correa hit the bar. Inter were awarded a penalty after Martínez shot into the hand of Jakub Kiwior from close range. Martínez used that penalty himself: 2-0.

Bologna – AS Roma 1-0
To maintain the connection with the top, Jose Mourinho’s eleven had to win. Experienced in that respect i Giallorossi, where Rick Karsdorp started in the base, luckily after fifteen minutes of play. Marko Arnautovic, Bologna’s top scorer with six goals, had to be replaced due to an injury. Coincidence or not: two minutes later AS Roma got its first big chance. Karsdorp delivered a fantastic pass to the head of Tammy Abraham, who narrowly headed wide. Bologna, however, did not get off the leg. Not long after, Andreas Skov Olsen tested Rui Patrício on the other side, but the Portuguese saved. The visitors became laconic and received an appropriate punishment.

A weak kick by Rui Patrício after 35 minutes of play ended up in the feet of Matthias Svanberg via Adama Soumaoro and Nicolás Domínguez. The Swede placed the ball on the edge of the box with great feeling past the Roma goalkeeper: 1-0. Mourinho’s team struggled to find an answer, even after the break. It wasn’t until twenty minutes before time that things started to get better for the Romans. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, in particular, made frantic efforts to get the scoreboard moving, but to no avail. Bologna kept the three points in-house and rises to eighth place in the Serie A; Roma retains fifth place in the ranking for the time being. With the home team, Mitchell Dijks and Sydney van Hooijdonk remained on the bench for the entire game.
