Barcelona will be full this summer for the arrival of Marcos Asensio, reports Mundo Deportivo Monday night. The left-footed wing attacker will run out of his contract with Real Madrid in June 2023 and the arch-rival from Catalonia hopes to take advantage of that. The 26-year-old Spaniard currently has to do it at Real with limited playing time as a substitute.

It would be a painful switch for Real: the Madrilenians hoped to sell Asensio this summer for a nice transfer fee, but there was no real concrete interest. In the winter goes the Royal reportedly make another attempt to earn some money from Asensio. If that fails, Barça will do everything they can to take over the 29-time international from Spain for free. Asensio has often shown his potential at Real in recent years, but has never been able to prove himself for a long period of time.

The club management of Barcelona has long been charmed by Asensio. Agent Jorge Mendes also has a good relationship with Barça president Joan Laporta, which means that Mundo Deportivo thinks a switch is very realistic. This summer, Asensio was the Telegraph still heavily linked to a move to Manchester United, but the Red Devils finally decided to pull the wallet for Antony.

The winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, has been under contract with Real since 2015. In Madrid he has so far played in 239 official games, scoring 50 goals and serving as principal 24 times. With Real, Asensio won the Champions League three times, the national title three times and the World Cup for club teams three times. Now a transfer-free transfer to the Spotify Camp Nou threatens.
