Barcelona will still try to take over Luuk de Jong from Seville in the closing hours of the summer transfer market, various Spanish media write. According to ASH the Catalan club contacted technical director Monchi of the Andalusians around 6 p.m. De Jong was previously associated with Barcelona but also with PSV, where trainer Roger Schmidt revealed last Saturday that the attacker would not go to Eindhoven this summer.

Ronald Koeman has given the green light for the arrival of De Jong: the two know each other from their joint period with the Dutch national team and the trainer would like to have an extra option in the forefront. The parties involved are not convinced that a deal to close the transfer market can be finalized, although the clubs are willing to think along with each other, as is the the Dutch international.

There is no time for negotiations on a final takeover: the media in Spain assume that Barcelona want to hire the attacker for the rest of the season and, in that case, will also pay his full salary. A Barcelona player may also go the opposite way. ASH drop the name of Miralem Pjanic. The midfielder has been linked with a return to Juventus all summer, but it doesn’t seem likely.

More soon.
