The FC Barcelona player bus was pelted by its own fans in the run-up to the Champions League match with Paris Saint-Germain, as can be seen on images on the internet. Believe it or not, the supporters mistook the bus for that of the visitors from Paris.

Barcelona won the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final 3-2 at the Parc des Princes last week, so Xavi's team was met by a frenzied crowd for the return.

Images show how the team bus is welcomed by thousands of fans near Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. However, a few of them thought they recognized the Paris Saint-Germain bus.

Footage shows torches and objects being thrown at the bus while shouting f*ck PSG. The reason for the mistake is probably the large amount of smoke created by the many torches.

Barcelona's bus would also look a lot like that of Paris Saint-Germain. “A hostile arrival that does not fit the relations between both clubs,” writes Marca.

The mistake also reached the Barcelona players, who expressed their disbelief upon arrival at the stadium. “I think they thought it was PSG's bus,” Marc Guiu told Iñaki Peña.
