Barcelona has announced the arrival of Andreas Christensen to the world. The club confirms the transfer on its own channels and writes that he has signed at Camp Nou until mid-2026. The Danish defender, who comes over from Chelsea, is the second acquisition to be presented on Monday. Franck Kessié was previously introduced to the general public.

Christensen’s contract with Chelsea has expired and so he makes a free transfer to Catalonia. The contract that the mandekker has signed includes a surrender clause of no less than 500 million euros. Spanish clubs are obliged to include such a transfer fee in contracts and to prevent players from leaving just like that, those amounts are often unrealistically high. Barcelona also announces that the Dane will be officially presented on Thursday and will hold a press conference.

Christensen brings the necessary experience with him. He went through much of Chelsea’s youth academy and made his debut in the 2014/2015 season for The Blues† After a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, where the stopper was a two-year regular, Christensen returned to Stamford Bridge and developed into a valued force in Chelsea’s rear. However, he was not completely undisputed and partly because of this, the 26-year-old defender decided to let his contract expire and opt for a new challenge.

In recent weeks, the Blaugranas for financial breathing room by selling players. As a result, Kessié and Christensen can now be captured. Barcelona will probably not stop there and the expectation is that more players will be brought in. Robert Lewandowski, for example, would be high on the Catalan lists. Outgoing transfers are certainly not excluded either: Frenkie de Jong is still associated with a transfer to Manchester United and Francisco Trincão is on his way to Sporting Portugal.
