Negotiations between Barcelona and Besiktas over Miralem Pjanic are well advanced, Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday afternoon. The transfer market expert writes that the clubs are approaching an agreement on the loan of the midfielder for the rest of the season and that it now only depends on the personal terms of the Bosnian. It is unclear whether Besiktas will also have an option to buy the midfielder.

The transfer market in Turkey, unlike many other countries in Europe, is still open for six days. Besiktas is hopeful for the temporary arrival of 31-year-old Pjanic, who has no prospect of playing time under Ronald Koeman this season and made thirty matches in all competitions last season. The midfielder was part of the match selection for the duel with Getafe (2-1) last weekend, because the Dutchman has nothing to complain about the professionalism of the Bosnian.

Pjanic refused at an earlier stage to have his contract terminated, but would have agreed to a salary reduction from eight to four million euros. He follows the example of Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto, who also agreed to a salary reduction. With this, the players want to help Barcelona in these financially difficult times.

It seemed for a while that Pjanic would return to Juventus in the final phase of the summer transfer period. Including the Italian journalist Romeo Agresti and La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Juventus would make a final decision on this last Monday. However, a transfer was not forthcoming and Pjanic is therefore still on the payroll at the Camp Nou until mid-2024.
