Everything seems to indicate that Sergio Busquets will leave Barcelona at the end of the season. It is expected that Busquets will transfer to Inter Miami FC on a free transfer in the summer, where the Catalan may be reunited with Lionel Messi. However, Xavi wants to do everything he can to change the 34-year-old midfielder’s mind, it reports ASH.

According to the Spanish sports newspaper, everyone at Barça is already considering a departure from Busquets at the end of the season. Both the selection and the club management would have already accepted that a longer stay of the veteran in the Spotify Camp Nou is no longer possible. Xavi will still talk to Busquets in the coming days to convince him to extend his expiring contract.

The 42-year-old coach hopes that Busquets will extend his contract by one season. If he does this, Xavi will also be happy if his midfielder then leaves on a free transfer in January 2024. In this scenario, Busquets does not have to join Inter Miami in the middle of the MLS season. ASH however, expects Busquets to stand by his decision and leave Barcelona for Inter Miami next summer.
