Barcelona wants to meet again this summer with Frenkie de Jong and Marc-André ter Stegen to discuss salary cuts, reports Mundo Deportivo. The Catalans have to save more than two hundred million euros to comply with LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play rules and therefore want to get rid of the large salary that the two earn for the time being.

It is not the first time that De Jong and Ter Stegen have been asked to hand in salary. During the corona crisis, the midfielder and goalkeeper agreed to a lower fee in exchange for a longer contract. Barcelona would now have that plan again. It remains to be seen whether De Jong and Ter Stegen are willing to hand in salary again. Last season, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué refused to waive their normal remuneration.

Barcelona wants to save in various ways in order to save more than two hundred million euros. According to AS, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres are at the top of the list of players who are allowed to leave, while it was recently announced that Newcastle United is willing to pay more than eighty million euros for Raphinha. In addition to the Brazilian and Torres, the Catalans would not be unwilling to leave Franck Kessié, Eric García and Marcos Alonso.

Barcelona will also miss out on another thirty million euros in income next season as it temporarily moves to the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys, because the Spotify Camp Nou is going to be renovated. From a sporting point of view, things are going well for the Catalans, who can become champions next Sunday if they win a visit to fellow townsman Espanyol. The lead on number two Atlético Madrid is thirteen points, while Real Madrid has fourteen points less.
