AZ has more than average interest in Willem Geubbels’ situation at AS Monaco. According to the Tuesday edition of L’Equipe the club from Alkmaar is one of the interested parties in the nineteen-year-old attacker and there is a chance that he will leave AS Monaco before the end of the summer transfer market, although the question is how realistic a transition to the AFAS Stadium will be.

Geubbels, son of a Dutch father and a mother from the Central African Republic, has been seen for years as a great talent. The born Frenchman was added to the youth academy of Olympique Lyon at the age of nine and made his debut in September 2017, at the age of sixteen, in the main squad of LOL. The attacker was stuck in the first on four appearances.

AS Monaco paid no less than twenty million euros for Geubbels in the summer of 2018, who was also interested in Bayern Munich and Manchester City at the time. However, the past two seasons have been dominated by lingering injuries, knee surgery and setbacks in his rehabilitation. The attacker, who turns twenty this month, made thirteen matches in Ligue 1 last season and it is questionable whether he will feature more in Niko Kovac’s plans this season.

According to L’Equipe AS Monaco wants to keep at least ten million euros from a definitive transfer, but a rental is also negotiable. In addition to AZ, the names of Anderlecht and Royal Antwerp FC are also mentioned. The attacker, who would also enjoy interest from England and Germany and still has a contract until mid-2023, is said to have recently turned down a rental to Saint-Étienne.
