Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrived in Barcelona on Monday afternoon. According to various international media – including transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano – Arsenal, Barcelona and the 32-year-old striker have a full agreement on a rental transfer. However, Barcelona still have to release players in the final hours of the transfer window to bring in Aubameyang, it says marca that a formula has already been found to capture Aubameyang anyway.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero and Romano share images of Aubameyang in Barcelona via Twitter. The Gabonese striker set foot on Spanish soil at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport on Monday, but that does not mean that his transition to Barcelona is already in the making. While Arsenal are willing to let him go to Barcelona without a rent, and Aubameyang have no qualms about giving up a large part of his weekly salary of €420,000, that doesn’t seem like enough to sign him up for La Liga.

Romano emphasizes that a move from Aubameyang to Barcelona still depends on outgoing transfers. Ousmane Dembele is currently the main candidate to make room at Barcelona. The French attacker is in possession of an expiring contract and is therefore currently being driven towards the exit of the Camp Nou. Paris Saint-Germain would be in the market to pick him up. Cadena SER and marca report that, however, Aubameyang could also bring in without Dembele’s departure.

Xavi is said to have told Aubameyang that without outgoing transfers there is still a salary budget of around two million euros. In that case, Aubameyang will have to settle for a monthly salary of more than 300,000 euros, a lot less than he now earns at Arsenal in a week. At the same time, the striker at Arsenal – which took over from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for more than sixty million euros – has been sidetracked.

Aubameyang was again disciplined by Mikel Arteta at Arsenal on December 6 and has since been out of the Gunners’ squad. The attacker can therefore look for a new employer. Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr were serious in the market and wanted to hire Aubameyang with an option to buy, but the 72-time international is determined to prove himself at the very highest level one more time. The Saudi Arabian proposals were therefore brushed aside.
