Serge Gnabry is sidelined for the time being. Bayern Munich reports through official channels that the attacker has suffered a hamstring strain and is 'unavailable for the time being'. As a result, Gnabry will have to miss the return in the Champions League against Arsenal in any case. Alexander Nübel is now about to extend his contract, which runs until mid-2025, by five years.

Gnabry was allowed to show from the kick-off in the first leg on Wednesday evening and was soon important with the early equalizer at the Emirates Stadium. Harry Kane made it 1-2 shortly afterwards, but it was not enough for the victory. Leandro Trossard set the final score at 2-2 after the break.

Gnabry left the field after seventy minutes of play for Raphaël Guerreiro. Gnabry went to the ground moments before and suspicions soon increased that it could be a hamstring injury.

Trainer Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the match that it was a hamstring injury. “It doesn't look good for the return.” Technical director Max Eberl also spoke out about the well-being of his attacker. “He's out again. He's not doing well. He knows something is wrong with him.”

It is not the first time this season that Gnabry has suffered from injuries. The attacker only played in seventeen games this season. For example, he had to miss eleven games between December and February due to a muscle injury. In the preparation for the current season he had ankle complaints. He also suffered a fracture in his arm in September.

Bayern will also have to make do without Alphonso Davies in the return. The Canadian was shown a yellow card in the ninth minute for a foul on Bukayo Saka. Guerreiro is Davies' designated replacement. The winner of the return, which takes place in a week, will face Real Madrid or Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Contract award

Bayern will soon also have good news to report. Florian Plettenberg van Sky Sports knows that Alexander Nübel will extend his contract until mid-2030. The 27-year-old Nübel is being rented out to VfB Stuttgart this season and will also play for the club from the car city next season.

Nübel could potentially be Manuel Neuer's replacement in the summer of 2025. It is still uncertain whether the 38-year-old goalie, who is under contract until mid-2025, will still be active as a professional football player. It is not excluded that the goalie will extend his contract for at least a year. Nevertheless, Bayern wants to hasten Nübel's contract extension, given his excellent development at Stuttgart. In 25 Bundesliga games this season, he only had to concede 31 goals.
