AS Roma did well in the first game without the fired José Mourinho. In Rome, the team led by Daniele de Rossi was too strong for Hellas Verona 2-1. Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini scored for the home team.

Particularities:
After just under twenty minutes of play, Roma, which started with Dean Huijsen in the starting line-up, opened the score. Stephan El Shaarawy dribbled into the box, played two opponents out and passed it to Lukaku, who was able to slide in.

A few minutes later Pellegrini doubled the margin. He was handed a high ball in the penalty area, immediately put it dead on his foot, let it bounce once and then hit the top corner with a left foot.

In the second act Verona showed its teeth. After an hour of play, the visitors were awarded a penalty, but Milan Duric shot over hard and high. Michael Folorunsho scored the tying goal, but to no avail.
