The players and staff of AS Monaco have had a restless night in the run-up to the meeting with PSV. The supporters group Young Ultras Eindhoven decided to set off fireworks at the Eindhoven hotel where the Monegasques stayed. They have this according to the French newspaper Nice-Matin addressed to UEFA.

It is uncertain whether sanctions will follow, because PSV is not responsible for rowdiness in the city centre. Around 04:00, on the early Tuesday morning, the necessary fireworks were set off near the AS Monaco hotel. “04:00, time to wake up Monaco”, joked the Young Ultras Eindhoven on their Instagram account, where a video of the action can be seen. A photo has also been posted of some boxes of fireworks.

AS Monaco says it is ‘stunned’ by the misbehavior. The action of the PSV supporters’ association is no longer original. The nightly setting off of fireworks at the players’ hotel of the playing party has been in the news regularly in recent times. Ajax supporters once created a lot of noise at the hotel where Real Madrid was a guest.

Monaco also had reason to complain during the return match against PSV (3-2 loss). Philippe Clement’s team claimed that Érick Gutiérrez had made it 2-2 in minute 89 from an offside position. “Looked like the rerun Gutic just to be sidelined,” wrote L’Equipe Wednesday. “But the referee never came to look at the screen. In the end it was Luuk de Jong, completely released at the far post, who smashed the Monegasque hope with his head.”
