Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Magalhães can report for the first time to the national teams of England and Brazil respectively. Both Arsenal players are benefiting from injuries suffered by other internationals. Smith Rowe replaces Marcus Rashford in England’s squad, while Gabriel has been added to the squad by Brazil coach Tite following an injury to Benfica defender Lucas Verissimo.

Smith Rowe was initially called up for Young England. National coach Gareth Southgate, however, has received cancellations from Rashford and James Ward-Prowse, while Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are not fit. It remains to be seen whether the latter two can take action in the coming international period. That is why Southgate has decided to bring Smith Rowe into the selection. He is rewarded for his good performances in the Arsenal shirt and can now hope for a debut for the Three Lions against Albania (12 November) or San Marino, (15 November).

Gabriel Magalhães can also hope for his debut in the national team this month. Tite received a cancellation from Veríssimo, who seriously injured his knee last weekend. The Benfica defender is expected to be out of action this season. Gabriel, who has formed the center of Arsenal’s rear guard this season along with Ben White, can now hope for his World Cup qualifying debut against Colombia (November 11) or Argentina (November 16).
