Arsenal want to make another attempt to recruit Jonathan David before the transfer market closes, it knows ESPN. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping an eye on the situation regarding the 22-year-old attacker from Lille OSC. The two clubs would rather wait and make an offer in the summer, but according to ESPN Could an Arsenal attempt spark a bidding war?

Arsenal are looking for a new center forward this month to strengthen the squad. Mikel Arteta can only call on Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah at the moment, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was disciplined by the Spanish coach on December 6. Since then, the Gabonese attacker has not been part of the match selection of the gunners. Aubameyang, who is the club’s highest-paid player with a salary of more than twenty million euros, can therefore look for a new employer.

The current number six in the Premier League has shown concrete interest in Dusan Vlahovic in recent weeks, but had to watch on Friday as the fourteen-time Serbian international preferred a switch to Juventus. Arsenal are now looking for an alternative and according to ESPN set his eye on David. The club hopes to tempt the Lille attacker with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the last days before the close of the transfer market.

David has netted 12 goals in 18 appearances so far this season in Ligue 1 while also racking up an impressive return in Canada’s shirt with 19 goals in 25 caps. However, Arsenal would face stiff competition, as Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping a close eye on the attacker. However, it will not be easy to close a deal with Lille in the coming days, as the French club has limited time to find a suitable replacement.
