Ángel Di María and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement on a new contract, so know RMC Sport to report. The 33-year-old Argentinian wing attacker will sign a new contract that will run until mid-2022 within a few weeks. It is unclear whether Di Maria will have to settle for a salary cut for this, because both parties have been arguing about this in recent months.

PSG tried to offer Di María a new and lucrative contract at the end of last year. However, the French superpower initially did not succeed in that mission, which raised doubts about the continuation of the cooperation between club and player. L’Équipe wrote in January that in the new situation PSG wanted to reduce its weekly salary from reportedly 250,000 euros, due to the financial consequences of the corona pandemic. Di Maria initially did not agree with this proposal.

Now both parties have come to an agreement, despite that L’Équipe linked him two months ago to a possible transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. However, the French sports newspaper also wrote at the time that Di María felt at home in Paris and wanted to extend his expiring contract. If the 104-time Argentina international actually signs a new contract, he will start his seventh year at PSG next season.

Les Parisiens took over Di María in the summer of 2015 for 63 million euros from Manchester United. The attacker, who previously also played for Rosario Central, Benfica and Real Madrid, has so far played 248 games for PSG, in which he scored 87 goals and 104 assists. RMC Sport also recently reported that the reigning champion of France has reached an agreement with Neymar on a new four-year contract. PSG has also been negotiating with Kylian Mbappé for a longer stay.
