Peter Bosz has still not been called by Ajax, the 59-year-old coach says Studio Football. There is still no clarity with the reigning national champion about who will be in charge next season. Bosz entered at the beginning of April Rondo already a practically open application, when he said he wanted to talk if Ajax would report to him. A week later he repeats these words.
The currently clubless Bosz added Rondo know to be open to being head coach at Ajax. If the people of Amsterdam called him, he would say ‘yes’. At the table Studio Football however, he says that he has not yet been called by the Amsterdam club management. “No,” says Bosz. “But if Ajax calls, I would talk.”
Ibrahim Afellay, also present in the talk show, is surprised that Ajax has not yet approached Bosz. “In all respects, isn’t he the ideal man for Ajax? Apart from the fact that he was fired from Olympique Lyon some time ago. Bosz recently indicated that he is open to it, so there is no old sore for him anymore. You would think: the club will then contact him? Which technical director would not like to have Bosz as trainer of Ajax 1?
Jeroen Stekelenburg also finds it difficult to understand that Ajax has not yet thrown a line at Bosz. “I also find it quite surprising. Imagine that at Ajax and there is someone up for grabs with international experience who shows on the field something they like to see in Amsterdam, namely attractive football… You get the feeling that they are in the order of the Supervisory Board, technical director and then coach work.”
Due to the dismissal of Alfred Schreuder, Heitinga will finish the season as head coach of Ajax. The 39-year-old trainer expressed the hope several times to continue as a trainer after the summer. Should it actually come to a definitive appointment for Heitinga, he will work closely with Sven Mislintat, who the NOS indicated that he expected more clarity on Tuesday. The fifty-year-old German, who is to succeed Marc Overmars, has a contract available until mid-2026. Mislintat will be controlled by Jan van Halst. The latter was nominated as technical commissioner by means of a press release on Thursday.
