There was astonishment on social media about the Team of the Week that UEFA has put together in the Europa League after the last round of play. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was named by the Europa League Player of the Week after his performance for Arsenal in the 3-2 win against Benfica. Strangely enough, the striker has not been given a place in the Team of the Week, which does have room for Davy Klaassen.

Aubameyang provided two goals in the game between Arsenal and Benfica on Thursday: the opening goal and the goal that the Gunners a 3-2 win. Thanks to his goal in the 87th minute, Arsenal qualified for the eighth final of the Europa League, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Aubameyang was chosen because of his important role Player of the Week, ahead of Alfredo Morelos (Rangers), Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur) and Andreas Linde (Molde FK).

Those three players have a place in the Team of the Week, but Aubameyang remarkably enough not. In the best team of the returns of the sixteenth finals of the Europa League, UEFA has assembled a vanguard consisting of Carlos Vinícius (Tottenham Hotspur), Morelos and Gerard Moreno (Villarreal). Klaassen is the only player in the match between Ajax and Lille OSC (2-1) to have earned a place and is a midfielder with Alli, Ryan Kent (Rangers) and Andreas Ulland Andersen (Molde FK). For defense, Arsenal does deliver a player to the Team of the Week with Tieran Kierney. The Scottish fullback forms a defense with Oleksandr Syrota (Dynamo Kiev) and Alexander Bah (Slavia Prague) in defense. Finally, Linde is set up as goalkeeper
