Al-Hilal has agreed with Wolverhampton Wanderers on the transfer of Ruben Neves. According to, among others Relev and Fabrizio Romano, the Saudis are willing to pay 55 million euros for the Portuguese midfielder. However, Neves has been in personal agreement with Barcelona, which is also interested. The Catalans just don’t continue.

Barcelona have been wanting to sign Neves for over a year and were incredibly close this summer. It thought of an exchange deal with Ansu Fati, but the latter himself lay down for it. Due to Financial Fair Play rules, Barcelona could not come up with anything other than a player swap. Al-Hilal decided to take advantage of that.

The wealthy Saudis can easily cough up an amount of millions and have already agreed with the Wolves on the transfer fee. Neves is also said to be open to a move to the Middle East. The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to sign with Al-Hilal next week, which will bring the next world star to Saudi Arabia. Karim Benzema already went to the Gulf state this summer, while Cristiano Ronaldo settled there in the winter.

With the move to Al-Hilal, Neves faces his second surprising transfer of his career. In 2017, the then prodigy of FC Porto already surprisingly moved to the Wolves, who then played in the Championship. The counter now stands at 253 duels, in which he scored thirty times and delivered thirteen assists. Neves’ contract runs for another year.
