Aad de Mos does not think that PSV will have an easy time against Ajax, the analyst says in the latest episode of Elfrink & De Mos from the Eindhovens Dagblad. According to De Mos, many PSV fans think too easily about the match in the Philips Stadium, due to the poor performance of the Amsterdam team.

De Mos understands little of the confident attitude of PSV supporters. “I want to put on the brakes for a moment. What I hear around me and read on social media is: ‘It will be 5-0 or 10-0, that match doesn’t even have to be played’. That is of course very dangerous, especially against an exasperated Ajax.”

The situation is different than normal, says De Mos. “It is the first time that they leave Amsterdam and are not the favorite. Every match, home or away, Ajax is normally the favourite. Not this time. They have nothing to lose, so be on the lookout PSV. Don’t fall into that trap, because the turning point could happen here.”

De Mos continues. “I hope not for PSV, but forewarned always counts for two. I wouldn’t fall into that trap there.” Journalist Rik Elfrink is shocked by the level of Ajax. “I have never seen such a weak Ajax, it is unprecedented! I’ve honestly never seen this before.”

Yet De Mos continues to provide nuance. “Ajax still has an interim match, perhaps something can arise there that can be taken to Eindhoven. They have to play against Brighton, they are not favorites there either, but even crazier things have happened in football.”

“I cannot imagine, from history, that Ajax will suffer a defeat of 5, 6 or even 7-0. I can’t imagine that,” said De Mos. “You should be able to get a win here based on the play, the form that is here and based on the rankings, but you shouldn’t fall into the trap of thinking it’s going to be a piece of cake.

Elfrink calls PSV – Ajax a match in itself. De Mos goes along with this. “That’s just how it is. You even see this among the youth. Ajax is in a bad position, but all PSV youth teams lose to Ajax. It could just go in a different direction, but I hope not.” Despite the opposition, De Mos expects a narrow Eindhoven victory.
