The Ajax Women have started their Champions League adventure with a historic victory over Paris Saint-Germain. In a well-filled Johan Cruijff ArenA, the Amsterdam team won their first match on the highest European stage ever with 2-0 thanks to goals from Tiny Hoekstra and Sherida Spitse.

Particularities:
The women of Bayern Munich played a draw against AS Roma (1-1) earlier in the evening, allowing the team of coach Suzanne Bakker to immediately take the lead with a victory over les Parisiens.

The first chance of the match was for the home team. Romée Leuchter tested goalkeeper Constance Picaud after a pass from Chasity Grant, but was unable to find the net. On the visitors’ side, it was Sandy Baltimore (saved by Regina van Eijk) and Marie-Antoinette Katoto (next to the goal) who were looking for the opening goal.

That would eventually come more than ten minutes before half time via Hoekstra, who outwitted Picaud with a smart shot: 1-0. Captain Spitse already put the final score on the board from the penalty spot in extra time of the first half: 2-0.

Ajax Women – Paris Saint-Germain Women 2-0

45+1′ 2-0 Sherida Spitse (penalty)
