Olympique Lyon wants to complete the transfer of André Onana in the coming days. Fabrizio Romano reports that the French want to speed up the conclusion of an agreement with Ajax and that the deal will be finalized soon. Only an agreement on the transfer fee would still stand in the way of the final transfer.

At an earlier stage, L’Equippe already that Onana had reached a personal agreement with the club where trainer Peter Bosz is at the helm. The agreement between the closing post and Lyon may have been finalized, but from an agreement between Ajax and LOL was not yet discussed. The transfer fee to be agreed is reportedly still a stumbling block in the negotiations, but the transfer market expert reports in a live stream on Twitch that ironing out the final folds is only a matter of time.

According to reports from France, Ajax requires a transfer fee of ten million euros, while Lyon would be willing to pay five million euros. L’Equipe expects an agreement to be reached for an amount of six million euros, which could increase with bonuses. The Telegraph announced more than a week ago that Onana will sign a four- or five-year contract in France.

The French newspaper reported in early July that “sources around Onana” had indicated that Lyon had held talks with the closing post. Les Gones would have offered a long-term contract. The goalkeeper, who is still under contract with Ajax until mid-2022, was still waiting to make the decision because ‘other French teams’ would be interested in his services. Bosz would have played an important role in the decision-making process of 25-year-old Onana, who looks back with a good feeling on the previous collaboration with the Ajax coach.

If the deal is finalized, Onana will be the fourth player to leave the team from Amsterdam this summer. Last Friday, the transfer of Kjell Scherpen to Brighton & Hove Albion was confirmed, while the departure of Lassina Traoré to Shakhtar Donetsk and the transfer Carel Eiting to KRC Genk were also announced at an earlier stage. Strictly speaking, Razvan Marin and Noa Lang also count as outgoing transfers for the 2021/22 season, although their exit due to a mandatory purchase option already known earlier.
