Ajax is busy looking for a new head coach. The Telegraph wrote on Friday that the Amsterdammers have drawn up a shortlist with three candidates: Erik ten Hag, Graham Potter and Francesco Farioli. L'Équipe know that Ajax recently visited Nice to speak with the latter.

According to The Telegraph Ajax still hopes for Ten Hag if the Dutch manager is fired by Manchester United. If Ten Hag, who previously became Dutch champion three times with Ajax, is unwilling or unavailable, Ajax will transfer to Potter, with whom several discussions have already been held.

Farioli is the last name on the shortlist. The Amsterdammers clearly play chess on several boards, it writes L'Équipe that 'one person' from Ajax has traveled to the Côte d'Azur to talk to the talented trainer of OGC Nice.

Ajax was then said to have been 'impressed' by the interview with the 35-year-old Italian coach and the profile of the talented trainer. However, Farioli's entourage denies that there has been contact with Ajax.

According to L'Équipe Due to his performance with Nice, Farioli can count on interest from several top European clubs. In the Italian trainer's home country, his name is associated with AC Milan, which is looking for a successor to Stefano Pioli, while Francesco Calzona is under heavy pressure at Napoli.

Farioli still has a contract with Nice until mid-2025 and is occupied with les Aiglons currently fifth in Ligue 1.

That Farioli according to The Telegraph is on Ajax's shortlist may be considered somewhat surprising, given that director of football Marijn Beuker spoke to him earlier this month Ajax Life still indicated that the club wants to appoint an 'experienced manager'. Farioli is in his first season as head coach of Nice and previously worked in the same position in Turkey for two years at Karagümrük and Alanyaspor.
