On Sunday, two 'debutants' can be seen in the Johan Cruijff ArenA during Ajax's match with RKC Waalwijk. No Jordan Henderson yet, who only has to pass his medical examination. Two new stadium screens will then be officially put into use for the first time.
The first weeks of 2024 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA were all about replacing the old screens with the the Dutch frames. In their place are two brand new LED screens.
“Literally a gigantic project,” writes the X account of its own stadium (@cruijffarena). The screens are eight meters high, fifteen meters wide and weigh ten thousand kilos each.
This makes them almost twice as large as the previous screens that hung in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Each screen has more than 1.4 million LED lamps.
The Johan Cruijff ArenA also talks about a better viewing angle and praises the energy efficiency of the new units.
