Sven Mislintat did not leave in good consultation with Ajax, the Amsterdammers corrected in a new press release. Ajax mistakenly sent out the wrong press release, stating that Mislintat and the club had reached an agreement regarding his departure.

Jan van Halst explains in the new press release that ‘support within the club’ was lacking to continue with Mislintat. The dismissal of the director of football affairs followed the disappointing afternoon against Feyenoord (0-3 behind due to a strike in minute 55). “The lack of broad support within the organization is the reason for the decision to end the collaboration with Sven Mislintat,” Ajax reports.

Interim general manager Jan van Halst further explains Mislintat’s departure. “Various attempts to restore broader support have not led to the desired result and this is leading to unrest in and around the club, also due to the disappointing performances. Sven has made enormous efforts for Ajax in recent months, for which we are grateful. It is now in the interest of the club to find the sporting path back up as quickly as possible with united forces.”

The wrong press release
Five minutes earlier, Ajax had mistakenly sent the wrong press release, which had apparently already been prepared in case an agreement could have been reached with Mislintat. “We spoke with Sven tonight and jointly determined that there is no broad support for further cooperation, also in view of the current sporting results,” Ajax said in the message that was quickly withdrawn.
