Ajax and Arsenal want to go far to incorporate Danilo, reports ESPN Tuesday afternoon. Palmeiras is reportedly asking for around 24 million euros for the left-footed defensive midfielder. The Gunners previously dropped out in the battle for the 21-year-old Brazilian, but are now still willing to spend tens of millions. In Amsterdam, Danilo could succeed Edson Álvarez, who is probably interested in Barcelona.

Previously, AS Monaco was also heavily linked to Danilo’s name, but Ajax and Arsenal are said to have the best papers at the moment. Both clubs are expected to make a concrete offer in January. Earlier, Ajax already sent scouts to Brazil to watch Danilo. According to ESPN the team from Amsterdam are now convinced that the midfielder would be an added value in the selection of trainer Alfred Schreuder.

Danilo, who became champion of Brazil with Palmeiras at the beginning of November, made his debut with the club from São Paulo in 2020. So far he played 141 matches there, in which he scored twelve goals and nine assists. In June, Danilo was called up to the Brazilian squad for the first time, but he has not played so far A Selecao. He is also currently not in the World Cup selection of national coach Tite.

The possible arrival of Danilo will be related to the departure of Álvarez. Reported at the end of October Sport that Barcelona is interested in the Mexican, as a potential successor to Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard’s contract expires next summer in Barcelona. The Catalans will have to dig deep into their pockets for Álvarez, as Ajax rejected an offer of fifty million euros from Chelsea last summer.
